Four generations of letterpress, one rule of the house: we print in black and white, and we make the white work. Every sheet leaves this shop dithered, ruled and registered by hand. If it needs color, it's in the wrong trade.

§1HISTORY OF THE HOUSE
Adalbert Bayer bought a secondhand platen off a railway stationmaster in 1874 and set up in a stable with a leaking roof. The roof leaked; the press did not. By the first winter the shop was drier inside than out, and the neighborhood caught on.
What followed were three generations of printers who argued about ink density the way other families argued about religion — loudly, at the table, with the linotype running. The rule has never changed: black ink, white paper, and the 4 × 4 Bayer matrix, which this house regards as a moral instrument as much as a technical one.

- 1874Founding. One press, one leak, one rule.
- 1902Second press arrives; the stable gains a floor.
- 1938The house adopts the 4 × 4 Bayer matrix as standard.
- 1969Poster run of 40,000 sold out before the ink dried.
- 2012Fourth generation takes the keys. The rule survives.
